D: Good morning, Vicki.
V: Good morning, Don.
D: I am excited about today’s Power for Today reading.
V: Why is that?
D: Because the author quotes from Ulrich Zwingli.
V: Who was Ulrich Zwingli?
D: He was a church reformer who lived in Switzerland in the 1500s. I just taught my college class about him a few weeks ago.
V: Well, the message in today’s reading is that if we lean on people, people may fall.
D: And we will fall with them.
V: The author begins by talking about a man who “climbed high” in the business world.
D: “Climbed high” means that he achieved a high position.
V: One time his “associates” or fellow workers saw him “despondent” or very sad.
D: Right. He told them that he had leaned upon Jim. And when Jim fell, he had fallen with him.
V: There are some important lessons for life here, aren’t there?
D: Yes. The author says that all of us search “frantically” or excitedly for a solid support for life.
V: But if our support for life is in another person, then it is “inevitable” or certain that we will crash.
D: Today, let’s lean on the everlasting arms...
V: Of Jesus. Great idea. And have a good one.

비키: 네, 당신도 잘 주무셨어요?
단: 오늘 자 ‘오늘의 능력’ 본문은 아주 흥미진진해요.
비키: 왜요?
단: 작가가 율리히 쯔빙글리의 글을 인용하고 있거든요.
비키: 율리히 쯔빙글리가 누군데요?
단: 1500년대에 스위스에 살았던 종교개혁자예요. 몇 주 전에 그에 대해서 강의시간에 가르쳤어요.
비키: 그랬군요. 오늘 본문의 메시지는 우리가 사람들을 의지하면 사람들은 쓰러질 수 있다는 거죠.
단: 그러면 우리도 그들과 함께 쓰러질 거고요.
비키: 작가는 사업상 높은 직위에 오른 사람에 대해 말하는 것으로 본문을 시작하고 있군요.
단: '높이 올라갔다'는 말은 높은 지위에 오른 것을 의미하죠.
비키: 그런데 한번은 동료들이 그가 매우 낙담해 있는 것을 보았다는 군요.
단: 그래요. 그는 동료들에게 그가 짐(Jim)을 의지해왔다고 말했어요. 그리고 짐이 쓰러졌을 때, 그도 같이 쓰러졌다고.
비키: 여기서, 인생의 중요한 교훈을 발견할 수 있군요. 그렇죠?
단: 그래요. 작가는 우리 모두가 삶을 위한 견고한 버팀목을 매우 열심히 찾고 있다고 말하고 있네요.
비키: 그러나 우리 삶의 버팀목이 다른 사람일 때, 분명 우리는 무너질 거예요.
단: 영원한 팔을 의지합시다.
비키: 예수님의 팔 말이죠. 아주 멋진 생각이에요. 좋은 하루 보내세요.
