| Shh, I’ve Got A Secret |

D: Good morning, Vicki.
V: Good morning, Don. Happy 70th birthday to my daddy!
D: That’s right. Well, do you want to know a secret?
V: Sure.
D: Actually, this is the topic of today’s Power for Today reading.
V: The author says that the words, “I’ve got a secret” are tantalizing.
D: “Tantalizing” means tempting and delicious.
V: I think that is why everyone loves to hear a secret.
D: In today’s reading, the author talks about the news that used to be a secret, but now it is to be shouted to everyone.
V: Right. That is the news of the Lord’s plans for the world.
D: But sometimes we guard the news selfishly, or, as the author says , we “hoard” it.
V: What do you think he means by that?
D: Well, the word “hoard” means to save in great quantities. And so we just keep collecting and collecting the great news, and keep it for ourselves, and never share it with anyone.
V: She also says that we spend most of our time with people of “like precious faith.”
D: That means that we spend too much time with people whose religious belief is just like ours.
V: But this news is not to be kept a secret, is it?
D: No, it is not.
V: In fact, that is one of the reasons for this “Power for Today" program, to let people know about this great news.
D: So, even from our home in Memphis, Tennessee, in the United States, we can still share with many people in Korea the news of what the Lord has done.
V: Yes. So that everyone to “have a good one.” |

단: 잘 잤어요, 여보?
비키: 네, 당신도 잘 주무셨어요? 단, 내 아버지의 70회 생신을 축하해 주세요.
단 : 그래야 하구 말구요. 그건 그렇고, 당신은 비밀을 알고 싶어요?
비키 : 물론이죠.
단 : 이것이 오늘 본문의 주제에요.
비키 : 작가는 “나는 비밀이 있어요.”라는 말이 사람들의 애를 태운다고 하네요.
단 : ‘애태운다’는 말은 감미로운 유혹이 있다는 뜻이죠.
비키 : 그래서 사람들이 비밀을 들으려 하는 모양이군요.
단 : 오늘 글에서 작가는 지금은 모든 사람들에 공개되었지만, 과거에는 비밀로 취급되었던 것에 대하여 말하고 있어요.
비키 : 맞아요. 세상을 향한 하나님의 계획에 대한 소식이지요.
단 : 하지만 종종 우리는 소식을 이기적으로 지키려하거나 가슴 깊숙이 쌓아두려고 한다는군요.
비키 : 작가가 의미하는 것의 무엇이라고 생각해요?
단 : ‘쌓아둔다’는 많은 것을 저장해 두는 것을 뜻하지요. 우리는 좋은 소식을 모으고 또 모아서 우리 자신을 위하여 보관하고, 절대로 남과 나누지 않아요.
비키 : 작가는 우리가 대부분의 시간을 ‘고귀한 믿음’을 가진 사람들과 보낸다고 하네요.
단 : 이것은 우리가 대부분의 시간을 같은 종교를 가진 사람들과 함께 한다는 거예요.
비키: 복음은 비밀로 간직되어서는 안돼요, 그렇죠?
단 : 네, 그래서는 안 되지요.
비키 : 사실 이 ‘오늘의 능력’ 프로그램이 가진 당위성 중의 하나가 사람들에게 이 위대한 말씀을 알게 하는 데 있지요.
단 : 그래서 미국 테네시 주 멤피스에 사는 우리도 하나님께서 행하신 일들에 대한 소식을 한국에 있는 많은 사람들과 나눌 수 있지요.
비키 : 그래요. 여러분 좋은 하루 되세요. |
