Staying On God
D: Good morning, Vicki.

V: Good morning, Don.

D: Today's author of Power for Today found herself in a dangerous situation.

V: Really? What happened?

D: Well, first she says that she was on a float (an object that floats on the water) enjoying a "dreamy interlude."

V: A "dreamy interlude" is a nice peaceful rest when one can really relax and dream.

D: Right. She was also gently "rocked" (or moved slowly up and down) by the waters in the Gulf of Mexico.

V: Sounds like a great vacation!

D: But then, she noticed that the "riptide" (or movement of the lower waters) was "carrying her out."

V: Oh no! That means that she was being taken farther from the beach.

D: Her husband tried to tell her to "paddle back" (or move her arms in the water to help her return back to the beach).

V: But she didn't listen to her husband. She says that she "eased off" (or carefully got off) her float and tried to swim to the beach.

D: And then the strong tide "shot" her out further. In other words, the moving waters pushed her quickly farther from her goal.

V: I think our lesson here "carries over" (or can also apply) to our spiritual lives.

D: Yes. We find out that when we try to do things by ourselves we get into more trouble.

V: But if we "turn loose our wills" (or let go what we want), and let our God "work His creative will" (or do what He wants to do) in us, then truly great things will happen.

D: Here the author says, "Awesome" (which means Fantastic! Or Unbelievable!)

V: Let's give our lives to an "awesome" God today.

D: Have a good one.
