| Who Can Open the Scroll?1Then I saw a scroll* in the right hand of the one sitting on the throne. The scroll had writing on both sides and was kept closed with seven seals*. 2And I saw a powerful angel, who called in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” 3But there was no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth who could open the scroll or look inside it. 4I cried and cried because there was no one who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5But one of the elders* said to me, “Don’t cry! The Lion* from the tribe of Judah has won the victory. He is David’s* descendant. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” 6Then I saw a Lamb* standing in the center near the throne with the four living beings around it. The elders were also around the Lamb. The Lamb looked as if it had been killed. It had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God that were sent into all the world. 7The Lamb came and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne. 8After the Lamb took the scroll, the four living beings and the 24 elders bowed down before the Lamb. Each one of them had a harp. Also, they were holding golden bowls full of incense*, which are the prayers of God’s holy people*. 9And they all sang a new song to the Lamb:
“You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals,
because you were killed, and with your blood sacrifice you bought people for God from every tribe, language, race of people, and nation. 10You made them to be a kingdom and to be priests for our God. And they will rule on the earth.” 11Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels. The angels were around the throne, the four living beings, and the elders. There were thousands and thousands of angels - 10,000 times 10,000. 12The angels said in a loud voice,
“All power, wealth, wisdom, and strength belong to the Lamb who was killed. He is worthy to receive honor, glory*, and praise!” 13Then I heard every created being that is in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, everything in all these places, saying,
“All praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever to the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb!” 14The four living beings said, “Amen!”* And the elders bowed down and worshiped. |

| 1나는 또 보좌에 앉아 계신 분의 오른손에, 안팎으로 글이 쓰인 두루마리가 들려 있는 것을 보았습니다. 그 두루마리는 일곱 개의 도장을 찍어 봉해 놓은 것이었습니다. 2내가 보니 큰 권능을 가진 천사가 큰 소리로 외치고 있었습니다. “봉인을 떼고 두루마리를 열 만한 이가 누구냐?” 3그러나 하늘에도 땅 위에도 땅 속에도 두루마리를 열거나, 그 안을 들여다볼 수 있는 사람이 없었습니다. 4나는 두루마리를 열거나 그 안을 들여다볼 수 있을 만한 사람을 아무도 찾을 수 없어서 울고 또 울었습니다. 5그때에 장로들 가운데 하나가 내게 말하였습니다. “울지 마십시오. 보십시오! 유다 가문에서 나온 사자, 곧 다윗의 위대한 후손*이 이기셨습니다. 그분은 일곱 봉인을 떼고 두루마리를 여실 수 있습니다.” 6그때에 나는 보좌 앞 한가운데에 어린양이 서 계신 것을 보았습니다. 그 어린양은 네 생물과 장로들에게 둘러싸여 있었고, 죽임을 당한 적이 있는 것 같아 보였습니다. 그분께는 일곱 뿔과 일곱 눈이 있었습니다. 그 일곱 뿔과 눈은 온 땅에 내보낸 하나님의 일곱 영들입니다. 7그 어린양은 보좌에 앉아 계신 분께 다가가서, 그분의 오른손에 있는 두루마리*를 받았습니다. 8어린양이 두루마리를 받아 들었을 때, 네 생물과 스물네 장로들은 어린양 앞에 엎드렸습니다. 그들은 각기 하프를 가졌고, 향이 가득 들어 있는 금향로를 들고 있었습니다. 그 향은 곧 성도들(믿는 이들)의 기도입니다. 9그들은 새 노래를 불렀습니다.
“당신은 두루마리를 받아서 봉인을 떼실 자격이 있으십니다.
당신은 죽임을 당하시고,
하나님을 위하여 당신의 피로 모든 종족과 언어와 백성과 민족 가운데서
사람들을 사셨기 때문입니다. 10당신께서 그들을 한 왕국으로 이루시고
우리 하나님을 섬기는 제사장*으로 삼으셨으니,
그들이 땅 위에서 다스릴 것입니다.” 11나는 또 많은 천사들의 음성을 들었는데, 그들의 수가 너무 많아서 이루 헤아릴 수가 없었습니다. 그들은 보좌와 생물들과 장로들을 둘러서 있었습니다. 12천사들은 큰 소리로 노래하였습니다.
“죽임을 당하신 어린양은
권능과 부와 지혜와 힘과 영예와 영광과 찬양을
받으실 자격이 있으십니다!” 13나는 또 하늘과 땅 위와 땅 아래와 바다에 있는 모든 피조물과, 또 그들 가운데 있는 만물이 노래하는 소리를 들었습니다.
“보좌에 앉으신 분과 어린양께서는
찬양과 영예와 영광과 권능을
영원무궁하도록 받으시옵소서!” 14네 생물이 “아멘!” 하고 말하였습니다. 그리고 장로들은 엎드려 경배하였습니다. |
