| Jesus Our High Priest1Here is the point of what we are saying: We have a high priest* like that, who sits on the right side* of God’s throne in heaven. 2Our high priest serves in the Most Holy Place*. He serves in the true place of worship* that was made by God, not by anyone here on earth. 3Every high priest has the work of offering gifts and sacrifices* to God. So our high priest must also offer something to God. 4If our high priest were now living on earth, he would not be a priest. I say this because there are already priests here who follow the law by offering gifts to God. 5The work that these priests do is really only a copy and a shadow of what is in heaven. That is why God warned Moses* when he was ready to build the Holy Tent*: “Be sure to make everything exactly like the pattern I showed you on the mountain.”* 6But the work that has been given to Jesus is much greater than the work that was given to those priests. In the same way, the new agreement* that Jesus brought from God to his people is much greater than the old one. And the new agreement is based on better promises. 7If there was nothing wrong with the first agreement*, then there would be no need for a second agreement. 8But God found something wrong with the people. He said,
“The time is coming, says the Lord, when I will give a new agreement to the people of Israel* and to the people of Judah*. 9It will not be like the agreement that I gave to their fathers. That is the agreement I gave when I took them by the hand and led them out of Egypt.
They did not continue following the agreement I gave them, and I turned away from them, says the Lord. 10This is the new agreement I will give the people of Israel. I will give this agreement in the future, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write my laws on their hearts.
I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11Never again will anyone have to teach their neighbors or their family to know the Lord.
All people - the greatest and the least important - will know me. 12And I will forgive the wrongs they have done, and I will not remember their sins.”* 13God called this a new agreement, so he has made the first agreement old. And anything that is old and useless is ready to disappear. |

| 우리의 대제사장이신 예수 1우리 말의 요점은, 우리가 이런 대제사장*을 모시고 있으며, 그분은 하늘에 계신 지극히 높으신 분의 보좌 오른편*에 앉아 계신다는 것입니다. 2그분은 사람이 세운 것이 아니라 주님께서 세우신 참 장막인 하늘 성전의 일을 맡아 보고 계십니다. 3모든 대제사장은 예물과 희생 제물을 바치는 일을 맡게 하려고 세우신 사람입니다. 그러므로 이 대제사장(예수)도 무엇인가 바칠 것이 있어야 합니다. 4만일 그분이 땅 위에 계신다면 제사장이 되지 않으실 것입니다. 땅에는 이미 예물을 드릴 사람들이 율법에 따라 정해져 있기 때문입니다. 5그들은 땅 위의 성전에서 섬기는 일을 하고 있는데, 그 성전은 하늘에 있는 것을 본떠 만든 모형과 그림자에 지나지 않습니다. 모세가 장막을 세우려고 할 때에 하나님께서 모세에게 엄하게 이르셨습니다. “너는 모든 것을 내가 산에서 보여 준 그 모양대로 만들도록 하여라.”* 6그러나 이제 예수께서 맡아 하시는 일은 그들이 하던 일보다 훨씬 더 훌륭합니다. 마찬가지로, 예수께서 중재자로서 하나님께 받아 당신의 백성에게 주신 새 계약도 옛 계약보다 훨씬 더 훌륭합니다. 새 계약은 더 좋은 것들을 주시겠다는 하나님의 약속에 바탕을 둔 것입니다. 7그 첫번째 계약에 흠이 없었다면 두 번째 계약이 생길 까닭이 없었을 것입니다. 8그런데 하나님께서는 당신의 백성을 나무라시면서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다.
“주께서 말씀하신다. 내가 이스라엘* 집안과 유다* 집안과 더불어 새 계약을 맺을 날이 올 것이다. 9이 새 계약은 내가 그들의 조상들의 손을 잡아 이집트 땅에서 데리고 나오던 날, 그 조상들과 맺은 계약과는 다른 것이다. 그들이 내 계약을 충실히 지키지 않았기에 나도 그들을 돌보지 않았다. 주님의 말씀이시다. 10그 뒤에 내가 이스라엘 집안*과 맺을 언약은 이러하다. 나는 내 법을 그들 생각 안에 심어 주고 그들의 마음에 새겨 줄 것이다. 나는 그들의 하나님이 되고 그들은 내 백성이 될 것이다. 11그들은 다시는 이웃이나 친척들에게 ‘주님을 알아라.’라고 가르치거나 말할 필요가 없을 것이다. 그들은 가장 낮은 사람에서부터 가장 높은 사람에 이르기까지 모두 나를 알게 될 것이기 때문이다. 12나는 그들의 잘못을 용서하고 그들의 죄를 더는 기억하지 않을 것이다.”렘 31:31-34 13하나님께서는 이 계약을 ‘새 계약’이라고 부르심으로써, 첫번째 계약*을 낡은 것으로 만드셨습니다. 낡고 오래된 것은 곧 사라지게 마련입니다. |
