A Warning About False Teachers1The Spirit* clearly says that in the last times some will turn away from what we believe. They will obey spirits that tell lies. And they will follow the teachings of demons*. 2Those teachings come through people who tell lies and trick others. These evil people cannot see what is right and what is wrong. It is like their conscience has been destroyed with a hot iron. 3They say that it is wrong to marry. And they say that there are some foods that people must not eat. But God made these foods, and those who believe and who understand the truth can eat them with thanks. 4Everything that God made is good. Nothing he made should be refused if it is accepted with thanks to him. 5Everything he created is made holy* by what he has said and by prayer.
Be a Good Servant of Christ Jesus 6Tell this to the brothers and sisters there. This will show that you are a good servant of Christ Jesus. You will show that you are made strong by the words of faith and good teaching you have followed. 7People tell silly stories that don’t agree with God’s truth. Don’t follow what these stories teach. But teach yourself to be devoted to God. 8Training your body helps you in some ways. But devotion to God helps you in every way. It brings you blessings in this life and in the future life too. 9Here is a true statement that should be accepted without question: 10We hope in the living God, the Savior of all people. In particular, he is the Savior of all those who believe in him. This is why we work and struggle. 11Command and teach these things. 12You are young, but don’t let anyone treat you as if you are not important. Be an example to show the believers how they should live. Show them by what you say, by the way you live, by your love, by your faith, and by your pure life. 13Continue to read the Scriptures* to the people, encourage them, and teach them. Do this until I come. 14Remember to use the gift you have, which was given to you through a prophecy* when the group of elders* laid their hands on* you. 15Continue to do these things. Give your life to doing them. Then everyone can see that your work is progressing. 16Be careful in your life and in your teaching. Continue to live and teach rightly. Then you will save yourself and those who listen to your teaching. |

1훗날에 사람들이 믿음을 버리고 속이는 영들과 악마의 가르침을 좇으리라고 성령*께서 분명히 말씀하신다. 2악마의 가르침은 위선적인 거짓말쟁이들을 통하여 온다. 이 거짓말쟁이들의 양심은 뜨거운 인두로 지져진 것처럼 완전히 무감각해져 버렸다. 3그들은 사람들이 결혼하는 것을 금하고, 어떤 음식은 먹지 못하게 한다. 그러나 음식은 믿는 사람들과 진리를 아는 사람들이 감사하는 마음으로 받아먹으라고 하나님께서 창조하신 것이다. 4하나님께서 창조하신 것은 모두 좋은 것이고, 감사하는 마음으로 받는다면 하나도 마다할 것이 없다. 5하나님의 말씀과 기도로 거룩하게 되기 때문이다.
그리스도 예수의 선한 종이 되어라 6그대는 형제자매들에게 이런 내 가르침을 깨우쳐 주어라. 그러면 그대는 믿음의 말씀과, 지금까지 그대가 좇아온 건전한 교훈의 말씀으로 점점 자라서, 그리스도 예수의 훌륭한 종이 될 것이다. 7속된 신화나 늙은 아낙네들의 이야기들은 물리쳐라. 오히려 자신을 훈련하여 경건함에 이르도록 하여라. 8몸을 훈련하는 것도 조금은 가치가 있는 일이지만, 경건함에 이르기 위한 훈련은 모든 면에서 가치 있는 일이다. 이것은 이 세상에서의 생명뿐 아니라 앞으로 올 세상에서의 생명도 약속해 준다. 9이 말은 참말이요 모든 사람이 받아들여야 할 말이다. 10우리는 열심히 일하고 힘써 노력한다. 그것은 우리가 모든 사람, 특히 믿는 사람들의 구세주이신 살아 계신 하나님께 희망을 두고 있기 때문이다. 11그대는 다음과 같은 것들을 명령하고 가르쳐라. 12아무도, 그대가 젊다고 하여 그대를 업신여기지 못하게 하여라. 오히려 그대는 말과 행동과 사랑과 믿음과 깨끗한 삶으로 모든 믿는 사람의 모범이 되어라. 13내가 갈 때까지 사람들 앞에서 성경을 읽어 들려주는 일과 간곡히 타이르는 일과 가르치는 일에 힘써라. 14그대가 받은 영적인 선물을 가볍게 여기지 마라. 그것은, 예언자들이 그대에 관하여 예언하고 장로*들이 그대에게 손을 얹어 주었을 때에*, 그대가 받은 것이다. 15이런 일들을 부지런히 실천하여라. 그것들에 그대 자신을 완전히 바쳐라. 그리하여 그대가 발전하는 모습을 모든 사람이 볼 수 있게 하여라. 16그대 자신과 그대의 가르침의 내용을 잘 살펴라. 이런 일들을 꾸준히 해 나가라. 그러면 그대는 자신뿐 아니라 그대의 말을 듣는 사람들을 모두 구원할 것이다. |
