1Greetings from Paul, an apostle*. I was chosen to be an apostle, but not by any group or person here on earth. My authority came from none other than Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Jesus from death. 2Greetings also from all those in God’s family who are with me.
To the churches* in Galatia*: 3I pray that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be good to you and give you peace. 4Jesus gave himself for our sins to free us from this evil world we live in. This is what God our Father wanted. 5The glory* belongs to God forever and ever. Amen*.
There Is Only One Good News Message 6A short time ago God chose you to follow him. He chose you through his grace* that came through Christ. But now I am amazed that you are already turning away and believing something different from the Good News* we told you. 7There is no other message that is the Good News, but some people are confusing you. They want to change the Good News about Christ. 8We told you the true Good News message. So anyone who tells you a different message should be condemned - even if it’s one of us or even an angel from heaven! 9I said this before. Now I say it again: You have already accepted the Good News. Anyone who tells you another way to be saved should be condemned! 10Now do you think I am trying to make people accept me? No, God is the one I am trying to please. Am I trying to please people? If I wanted to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Paul’s Authority Is From God 11Brothers and sisters, I want you to know that the Good News* message I told you was not made up by anyone. 12I did not get my message from any other human. The Good News is not something I learned from other people. Jesus Christ himself gave it to me. He showed me the Good News that I should tell people. 13You have heard about my past life in the Jewish religion. I persecuted* the church* of God very much. I tried to destroy his people. 14I was becoming a leader in the Jewish religion. I did better than most other Jews my own age. I tried harder than anyone else to follow the traditions we got from our ancestors*. 15But God had special plans for me even before I was born. So he chose me through his grace*. 16It pleased him to let me see and know his Son so that I could tell the Good News about him to the non-Jewish people. I immediately prepared to do this work without asking for advice or help from anyone. 17I did not go to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles* before I was. But, without waiting, I went away to Arabia. Later, I went back to the city of Damascus. 18Three years later I went to Jerusalem to meet Peter*. I stayed with him 15 days. 19I met no other apostles - only James, the brother of the Lord. 20God knows there is nothing untrue in any of this. 21Later, I went to the areas of Syria and Cilicia. 22No one in any of Christ’s churches* in Judea had ever met me before. 23They had only heard this about me: “This man was persecuting us. But now he is telling people about the same faith that he once tried to destroy.” 24These believers praised God because of me. |

1나 사도 바울이 여러분에게 이 편지를 씁니다. 나는 어떤 사람의 단체가 나를 사도로 뽑아 주어 사도가 된 것도 아니고, 어떤 한 사람을 통해 사도가 된 것도 아닙니다. 나를 사도로 뽑아 주신 분은 예수 그리스도와 그분을 죽음에서 다시 살리신 하나님 아버지이십니다. 2이곳에 있는 모든 형제자매들이 나와 함께 갈라디아*에 있는 여러 교회에 문안드립니다. 3하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도께서 주시는 은혜와 평화가 여러분과 함께하시기를 기도합니다. 4예수는 우리 죄를 위해서 당신 자신을 내주신 분이십니다. 그것은, 우리를 이 악한 세상의 얽매임에서 자유롭게 풀어 주시려는 것이었습니다. 그리고 그것은 하나님의 뜻에 따라 하신 일이기도 합니다. 5하나님께 영광이 영원무궁토록 있기를 바랍니다. 아멘.
참된 기쁜 소식은 오직 하나뿐이다 6여러분이 하나님의 부르심을 받아 그분을 따르게 된 것은 바로 얼마 전의 일입니다. 하나님께서는, 하나님의 은혜로* 여러분을 부르셨습니다. 그런데 여러분이 이렇게 빨리 그러한 하나님께로부터 돌아서서 다른 기쁜 소식*을 따르고 있다니, 나는 놀라지 않을 수 없습니다. 7사실 다른 기쁜 소식이 있을 수 없습니다. 다만 그리스도의 기쁜 소식을 변질시키려고 하는 어떤 사람들이 여러분에게 겁을 주어 불안하게 하고 있는 것입니다. 8우리는 여러분에게 참된 기쁜 소식을 전했습니다. 우리나 하늘의 천사라도 여러분에게 다른 기쁜 소식을 전한다면 저주를 받아 마땅합니다. 9전에도 말한 적이 있지만, 다시 여러분에게 말합니다. 여러분이 이미 전해 받은 것과 다른 기쁜 소식을 전하는 사람이 있으면, 그가 누구든 그 사람은 저주를 받아 마땅합니다. 10내가 지금 사람들이나 하나님의 인정을 받으려 하고 있습니까? 또는 사람을 기쁘게 하려고 합니까? 만일 내가 아직도 사람을 기쁘게 하려 한다면, 나는 예수 그리스도의 종이 아닐 것입니다.
바울의 권위는 하나님께서 주신 것 11형제자매 여러분, 내가 여러분에게 전한 기쁜 소식*은 사람의 생각에서 나온 것이 아니라는 것을 아시기 바랍니다. 12나는 그 기쁜 소식을 어느 누구에게서 받지도 않았으며, 어느 누구에게서 배우지도 않았습니다. 나는 그것을, 하나님께서 예수 그리스도를 나에게 나타내 보여 주셨을 때에 받았습니다. 13여러분은 내가 전에 유대교와 그 생활 방식을 따라 어떻게 살았는지 들어 알고 있을 것입니다. 나는 하나님의 교회를 심하게 박해*하였습니다. 나는 교회(믿는 이들)를 완전히 없애 버리려고까지 하였습니다. 14나는 유대교의 가르침을 배우고 실천하는 일에 있어서, 내 나이 또래의 다른 많은 유대 사람들보다 앞서가고 있었습니다. 그리고 조상들에게서 물려받은 전통을 지키는 일에도 아주 헌신적이었습니다. 15그러나 하나님께서는 내가 태어나기도 전에 이미 나를 위해 특별한 계획을 마련해 두고 계셨습니다. 그래서 하나님께서는 은혜로 나를 부르시고, 16당신의 아들을 내게 보여 주시기로 하셨습니다. 그것은, 나로 하여금 당신의 아들에 관한 기쁜 소식*을 이방 사람*들에게 전하게 하시려는 것이었습니다. 하나님께서 나를 부르셨을 때 나는 어느 누구와도 의논하지 않았습니다. 17나는 나보다 먼저 사도*가 된 사람들을 만나러 예루살렘으로 가지도 않았습니다. 나는 곧장 아라비아로 갔다가 다마스커스로 돌아갔습니다. 18삼 년이 지난 다음에야 나는 베드로*를 만나려고 예루살렘으로 갔습니다. 나는 거기서 그와 보름 동안 같이 있었습니다. 19나는 주님(예수)의 동생인 야고보를 빼고는 다른 어떤 사도도 만나지 않았습니다. 20내가 여러분에게 지금 쓰고 있는 말에 조금도 거짓이 없다는 것을 하나님께서 아십니다. 21그 뒤에 나는 시리아와 길리기아 지방으로 갔습니다. 22그래서 유대 지방에 있는 그리스도의 교회들이 나를 직접 알지 못하였습니다. 23그들은 나에 관해서 다음과 같은 말을 들었을 뿐입니다. “이 사람은 우리를 박해하던 사람이다. 그런데 지금은 그가 전에 없애 버리려고 애쓰던 바로 그 믿음을 사람들에게 전하고 있다.” 24그리고 그들은 나 때문에 하나님께 영광을 돌렸습니다. |
