| Teachers Are Only God’s Servants1Brothers and sisters, when I was there, I could not talk to you the way I talk to people who are led by the Spirit. I had to talk to you like ordinary people of the world. You were like babies in Christ. 2And the teaching I gave you was like milk, not solid food. I did this because you were not ready for solid food. And even now you are not ready. 3You are still not following the Spirit. You are jealous of each other, and you are always arguing with each other. This shows that you are still following your own selfish desires. You are acting like ordinary people of the world. 4One of you says, “I follow Paul,” and someone else says, “I follow Apollos.” When you say things like that, you are acting like people of the world. 5Is Apollos so important? Is Paul so important? We are only servants of God who helped you believe. Each one of us did the work God gave us to do. 6I planted the seed and Apollos watered it. But God is the one who made the seed grow. 7So the one who plants is not important, and the one who waters is not important. Only God is important, because he is the one who makes things grow. 8The one who plants and the one who waters have the same purpose. And each one will be rewarded for his own work. 9We are workers together for God, and you are like a farm that belongs to God.
And you are a house that belongs to God. 10Like an expert builder I built the foundation of that house. I used the gift that God gave me to do this. Other people are building on that foundation. But everyone should be careful how they build. 11The foundation that has already been built is Jesus Christ, and no one can build any other foundation. 12People can build on that foundation using gold, silver, jewels, wood, grass, or straw. 13But the work that each person does will be clearly seen, because the Day* will make it plain. That Day will appear with fire, and the fire will test everyone’s work. 14If the building they put on the foundation still stands, they will get their reward. 15But if their building is burned up, they will suffer loss. They will be saved, but it will be like someone escaping from a fire. 16You should know that you yourselves are God’s temple*. God’s Spirit* lives in you. 17If you destroy God’s temple, God will destroy you, because God’s temple is holy*. You yourselves are God’s temple. 18Don’t fool yourselves. Whoever thinks they are wise in this world should become a fool. That’s the only way they can be wise. 19I say this because the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures* say, “He catches those who think they are wise in their own clever traps.”* 20The Scriptures also say, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise. He knows that their thoughts are worth nothing.”* 21So there is not a person on earth that any of you should be boasting about. Everything is yours: 22Paul, Apollos, Peter*, the world, life, death, the present, and the future - all these are yours. 23And you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. |

| 사람을 따르는 것이 죄이다 1형제자매 여러분, 전에는 내가 영적인 사람들에게 이야기하듯 여러분에게 이야기할 수가 없었습니다. 그래서 세속적인 사람, 곧 그리스도 안에서 어린아이와 같은 사람들에게 이야기하듯 이야기할 수밖에 없었습니다. 2나는 여러분에게 젖을 먹이고 단단한 음식은 먹이지 않았습니다. 여러분이 아직은 단단한 음식을 먹을 수 없었기 때문입니다. 그리고 지금도 먹을 수 없습니다. 3여러분이 아직도 세속적인 사람들이기 때문입니다. 여러분 사이에 시샘과 다툼이 있다니, 여러분을 아직도 세속적인 사람들이라고 하지 않을 수 있겠습니까? 4여러분 가운데 어떤 사람은 “나는 바울의 제자다.”라 말하고, 어떤 사람은 “나는 아폴로의 제자다.”라 말하고 있으니, 여러분이 아직도 세속적인 사람들처럼 행동하고 있는 것이 아닙니까? 5도대체 아폴로*가 무엇이며 바울이 무엇입니까? 우리는 여러분이 믿도록 도운 주의 종들에 지나지 않습니다. 우리는 제각기 주께서 맡기신 일을 했을 뿐입니다. 6나는 씨를 심었고 아폴로는 그 씨에 물을 주었습니다. 그러나 그 씨를 자라게 하신 분은 하나님이십니다. 7씨를 심는 사람이나 물을 주는 사람은 중요하지 않습니다. 씨를 자라게 하시는 하나님만이 중요합니다. 8심는 사람이나 물을 주는 사람이나 같은 목적으로 일합니다. 그들은 제각기 일한 만큼 상을 받을 것입니다. 9우리는 하나님을 위해 함께 일하는 일꾼들입니다. 그리고 여러분은 하나님의 밭입니다.
그리고 여러분은 하나님의 집입니다. 10나는 하나님께서 내게 주신 은혜에 따라, 숙련된 건축가처럼 그 집의 기초를 놓았습니다. 다른 사람이 그 기초 위에 집을 짓습니다. 그러나 집을 짓는 각 사람은 조심스럽게 잘 지어야 합니다. 11누구도 이미 놓여 있는 기초와 다른 기초를 놓을 수 없습니다. 이미 놓인 기초가 바로 예수 그리스도이십니다. 12사람들은 저마다 금이나 은이나 보석이나 나무나 풀이나 짚으로 집을 지을 수 있습니다. 13그러나 그날이 오면, 저마다 집을 지은 솜씨가 분명하게 드러날 것입니다. 그날은 불과 함께 올 터인데, 불이 각 사람이 한 일을 시험할 것입니다. 14자기가 지은 집이 불에 타 없어지지 않은 사람은 상을 받을 것입니다. 15그러나 자기가 지은 집이 타 없어진 사람은 큰 손해를 보게 될 것입니다. 그 사람 자신은 구원을 받겠지만, 마치 불타는 집에서 간신히 빠져 나오는 사람처럼 구원받을 것입니다. 16여러분은 자신들이 하나님의 성전이며, 하나님의 영이 여러분 가운데 살고 계신다는 것을 모르십니까? 17누구든지 하나님의 성전을 파괴하면, 하나님께서 그 사람을 멸하실 것입니다. 하나님의 성전은 거룩하기* 때문입니다. 그리고 여러분 자신이 바로 그러한 하나님의 성전입니다. 18여러분은 자신을 속이지 마십시오. 여러분 가운데, 이 시대의 기준에 따르면 자기는 슬기로운 사람이라고 생각하는 사람이 있습니까? 그런 사람은 참으로 슬기로운 사람이 되기 위해서 바보가 되어야 합니다. 19이 세상의 슬기가 하나님께서 보시기에는 어리석은 것이기 때문입니다. 성경*에 이렇게 쓰여 있습니다. “하나님께서는, 슬기롭다는 자들을 그들 자신의 꾀로 잡으신다.”* 20성경에는 또 이렇게도 쓰여 있습니다. “주께서 슬기로운 자들의 생각이 헛된 것임을 아신다.”* 21그러니 누구도 자기가 어떤 사람을 따른다고 자랑해서는 안 됩니다. 모든 것이 다 여러분의 것입니다. 22바울도, 아폴로*도, 게바(베드로)도 여러분의 것입니다. 그리고 세상도, 삶과 죽음도, 현재와 미래도 다 여러분의 것입니다. 23그리고 여러분은 그리스도의 것이고, 그리스도는 하나님의 것입니다. |
