Gifts From the Holy Spirit1Now, brothers and sisters, I want you to understand about spiritual gifts. 2You remember the lives you lived before you were believers. You let yourselves be influenced and led away to worship idols* - things that have no life. 3So I tell you that no one who is speaking with the help of God’s Spirit says, “Jesus be cursed.” And no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” without the help of the Holy Spirit*. 4There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit. 5There are different ways to serve, but we serve the same Lord. 6And there are different ways that God works in people, but it is the same God who works in all of us to do everything. 7Something from the Spirit can be seen in each person. The Spirit gives this to each one to help others. 8The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak with wisdom. And the same Spirit gives another person the ability to speak with knowledge. 9The same Spirit gives faith to one person and to another he gives gifts of healing. 10The Spirit gives to one person the power to do miracles*, to another the ability to prophesy*, and to another the ability to judge what is from the Spirit and what is not. The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak in different kinds of languages, and to another the ability to interpret those languages. 11One Spirit, the same Spirit, does all these things. The Spirit decides what to give each one.
The Body of Christ 12A person has only one body, but it has many parts. Yes, there are many parts, but all those parts are still just one body. Christ is like that too. 13Some of us are Jews and some of us are not; some of us are slaves and some of us are free. But we were all baptized* to become one body through one Spirit*. And we were all given* the one Spirit. 14And a person’s body has more than one part. It has many parts. 15The foot might say, “I am not a hand, so I don’t belong to the body.” But saying this would not stop the foot from being a part of the body. 16The ear might say, “I am not an eye, so I don’t belong to the body.” But saying this would not make the ear stop being a part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, it would not be able to hear. If the whole body were an ear, it would not be able to smell anything. 18-19If each part of the body were the same part, there would be no body. But as it is, God put the parts in the body as he wanted them. He made a place for each one. 20So there are many parts, but only one body. 21The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the foot, “I don’t need you!” 22No, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are actually very important. 23And the parts that we think are not worth very much are the parts we give the most care to. And we give special care to the parts of the body that we don’t want to show. 24The more beautiful parts don’t need this special care. But God put the body together and gave more honor to the parts that need it. 25God did this so that our body would not be divided. God wanted the different parts to care the same for each other. 26If one part of the body suffers, then all the other parts suffer with it. Or if one part is honored, then all the other parts share its honor. 27All of you together are the body of Christ. Each one of you is a part of that body. 28And in the church* God has given a place first to apostles*, second to prophets*, and third to teachers. Then God has given a place to those who do miracles*, those who have gifts of healing, those who can help others, those who are able to lead, and those who can speak in different kinds of languages. 29Not all are apostles. Not all are prophets. Not all are teachers. Not all do miracles. 30Not all have gifts of healing. Not all speak in different kinds of languages. Not all interpret those languages. 31Continue to give your attention to the spiritual gifts you consider to be the greatest. But now I want to point out a way of life that is even greater. |

성령의 여러 가지 은사 1형제자매 여러분, 성령께서 우리에게 내려 주시는 선물들에 관하여 여러분이 잘못 알고 있는 것들이 있기에, 이제 내가 그것들을 바로잡아 드리려 합니다. 2여러분이 아시는 대로, 여러분이 아직 이교도들이었을 때, 여러분은 잘못된 길로 휩쓸려 들어서 말도 못하는 우상*들을 섬겼습니다. 3그래서 여러분이 무엇이 참말로 하나님께로부터 나온 것인지를 분별할 수 있는 법을 말씀드리겠습니다. 곧, 하나님의 영으로 말하는 사람은 아무도 “예수는 저주를 받아라.”라고 말할 수 없습니다. 그리고 성령*의 도우심을 받지 않고는 아무도 “예수는 주님이시다.”라고 말할 수 없습니다. 4그런데 은혜의 선물에는 여러 가지가 있습니다. 하지만 그것들을 나누어 주시는 분은 같은 성령이십니다. 5주님을 섬기는 일에는 여러 가지가 있지만, 우리가 섬기는 분은 같은 주님이십니다. 6하나님께서 사람들 가운데서 일하시는 방법에는 여러 가지가 있지만, 모든 사람을 통하여 그 모든 일을 하시는 분은 하나님이십니다. 7하나님께서 각 사람을 통하여 성령을 나타내시는 것은, 서로가 서로를 도와 모두가 유익을 얻게 하려는 것입니다. 8어떤 사람에게는 성령을 통하여 지혜의 말씀을 주시고, 어떤 사람에게는 같은 성령에 따라 지식의 말씀을 주십니다. 9어떤 사람에게는 같은 성령으로 믿음을 주시고, 또 어떤 사람에게는 같은 성령으로 병을 고치는 은사를 주십니다. 10어떤 사람에게는 기적을 행하는 능력을 주시고, 어떤 사람에게는 하나님의 말씀을 받아 전하는* 능력을, 어떤 사람에게는 영들을 분별하는 능력을 주십니다. 어떤 사람에게는 여러 가지 다른 언어로* 말하는 능력을, 어떤 사람에게는 그 언어들을 통역할 수 있는 능력을 주십니다. 11그러나 이 모든 일을 이루시는 분은 같은 한 성령님으로서, 각 사람에게 적절하다고 생각하시는 대로 은혜의 선물을 나누어 주십니다.
그리스도의 몸 12사람의 몸은 하나이지만, 그 몸에는 여러 부분이 있습니다. 그러나 각기 다른 모든 부분들이 한 몸을 이루듯, 그리스도의 경우도 마찬가지입니다. 13우리 가운데 어떤 사람은 유대 사람이고, 어떤 사람은 그리스 사람입니다. 어떤 사람은 노예이고, 어떤 사람은 자유인입니다. 그러나 우리는 모두 한 성령으로 세례를 받아, 그리스도 안에서 한 몸이 되었습니다. 그리고 모두 한 성령을 받았습니다*. 14사람의 몸은 한 부분이 아니라 여러 부분으로 이루어졌습니다. 15그래서 발이 “나는 손이 아니야. 그러니 나는 몸에 속하지 않아.”라고 말한다고 해서 발이 몸의 일부가 아니겠습니까? 16귀가 “나는 눈이 아니야. 그러니 나는 몸에 속하지 않아.”라고 말한다고 해서 몸의 일부가 아니겠습니까? 17온몸이 다 눈이라면 몸은 들을 수 없을 것입니다. 온몸이 다 귀라면 몸은 아무런 냄새도 맡을 수 없을 것입니다. 18그러나 하나님께서는 당신의 뜻대로 각기 다른 일을 하도록 우리 몸에 각기 다른 부분을 두셨습니다. 19모든 부분이 다 같다면 어떻게 우리의 몸이 이루어질 수 있겠습니까? 20그러니 몸에 여러 부분이 있으나 실은 다 한 몸인 것입니다. 21눈이 손에게 “나는 네가 필요 없다.”라고 말할 수 없습니다. 그리고 머리가 발에게 “나는 네가 필요 없다.”라고 말할 수도 없습니다. 22사실은, 몸 가운데서 우리가 더 약하다고 생각하는 부분들이 아주 필요한 부분들입니다. 23우리는 몸 가운데서 덜 귀하다고 생각되는 부분들을 특별히 더 잘 돌보고, 남들에게 드러내 보일 수 없는 은밀한 부분들을 더욱 아름답게 꾸밉니다. 24사실 우리 몸에서 얼마든지 드러내 보여도 좋은 부분들은 꾸밀 필요가 없습니다. 하나님께서는 우리 몸의 부분들을 결합하시고, 볼품이 덜한 부분에는 더 큰 존귀함을 주셨습니다. 25그것은, 우리 몸이 서로 나뉘지 않고, 오히려 몸의 각기 다른 부분들이 서로에게 같은 정도의 관심을 갖게 하려는 것입니다. 26몸의 한 부분이 고통을 당하면 다른 모든 부분도 같이 고통을 당합니다. 몸의 한 부분이 귀히 여김을 받으면 다른 부분들도 다 같이 기쁨을 나눕니다. 27그런데 여러분 모두가 합하여 그리스도의 몸을 이루고 있습니다. 그리고 여러분 각자가 그 몸의 부분들입니다. 28하나님께서는 다음과 같은 사람들을 교회 안에 세우셨습니다. 첫째는 사도*들이요, 둘째는 하나님의 말씀을 받아 전하는 사람들*이요, 셋째는 교사들입니다. 그 다음으로는 기적을 행하는 사람들, 병 고치는 은사를 받은 사람들, 다른 사람들을 돕는 사람들, 지도하는 사람들, 여러 가지 다른 언어로* 말하는 사람들입니다. 29모든 사람이 사도입니까? 모든 사람이 하나님의 말씀을 받아 전하는 사람*입니까? 모든 사람이 교사입니까? 모든 사람이 기적을 행합니까? 30모든 사람이 병 고치는 은사를 받았습니까? 모든 사람이 여러 가지 다른 언어로 말합니까? 모든 사람이 그 언어들을 통역합니까? 물론 아닙니다. 31여러분은 보다 더 큰 은혜의 선물들을 열심히 구하십시오.
