| Following the True Teaching1You, however, must tell everyone how to live in a way that agrees with the true teaching. 2Teach the older men to have self-control, to be serious, and to be wise. They must be strong in faith, in love, and in patience. 3Also, teach the older women to live the way those who serve the Lord should live. They should not go around saying bad things about others or be in the habit of drinking too much. They should teach what is good. 4By doing this they will teach the younger women to love their husbands and children. 5They will teach them to be wise and pure, to take care of their homes, to be kind, and to be willing to serve their husbands. Then no one will be able to criticize the teaching God gave us. 6In the same way, tell the young men to be wise. 7You should be an example for them in every way by the good things you do. When you teach, be honest and serious. 8And your teaching should be clearly right so that you cannot be criticized. Then anyone who is against you will be ashamed. There will not be anything bad they can say about us. 9And tell this to those who are slaves: They should be willing to serve their masters at all times; they should try to please them, not argue with them; 10they should not steal from them; and they should show their masters that they can be trusted. Then, in everything they do, they will show that the teaching of God our Savior is good. 11That is the way we should live, because God’s grace* has come. That grace can save everyone. 12It teaches us not to live against God and not to do the bad things the world wants to do. It teaches us to live on earth now in a wise and right way - a way that shows true devotion to God. 13We should live like that while we are waiting for the coming of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. He is our great hope, and he will come with glory*. 14He gave himself for us. He died to free us from all evil. He died to make us pure - people who belong only to him and who always want to do good. 15These are the things you should tell people. Encourage them, and when they are wrong, correct them. You have full authority to do this, so don’t let anyone think they can ignore you. |

| 참된 가르침을 따라라 1그대는 건전한 교리에 맞는 것을 가르쳐라. 2나이 많은 남자들에게는, 절제하고 진지하고 신중하라고 가르쳐라. 그리고 건전한 믿음과 건전한 사랑과 건전한 인내를 갖추라고 가르쳐라. 3마찬가지로 나이 많은 여자들에게는, 남을 헐뜯는 사람이나 술의 노예가 되지 말고, 사람들의 우러름을 받는 몸가짐으로 선한 것을 가르치는 사람이 되라고 가르쳐라. 4그리하면 그들은 젊은 여자들을 훈련하여, 남편과 자녀들을 사랑하고, 5신중하고 정숙하며, 집안을 잘 돌보고 친절하며, 남편에게 복종하게 할 수 있을 것이다. 그래야 아무도 하나님의 말씀을 비판하지 못할 것이다. 6그리고 그와 마찬가지로, 젊은 남자들에게도 자제력을 갖추라고 권하여라. 7그대는 선한 행동으로 모든 일에 있어 모범을 보여라. 가르칠 때에는 성실하고 진지한 모습을 보여 주어라. 8그리고 책잡힐 것 없는 건전한 말로 가르쳐라. 그것은, 누구도 우리를 헐뜯어 말할 것이 없으므로, 그대에게 반대하는 사람이 부끄러움을 당하게 하려는 것이다. 9종들에게는, 모든 일에 있어서 주인에게 복종하고, 주인을 기쁘게 해 주어야 한다고 가르쳐라. 그들은 주인에게 말대꾸를 하거나, 10주인의 것을 훔치지 말고, 온전히 신실한 사람이라는 것을 주인에게 보여 주어야 한다고 가르쳐라. 그것은, 그들 때문에 우리 구세주 하나님의 가르침이 모든 면에서 더욱 아름답게 빛나게 하려는 것이다. 11구원을 주시는 하나님의 은혜가 모든 사람에게 나타났다. 12이 은혜는 우리를 가르쳐서, 경건하지 않은 행위와 세속적인 열정에게는 “아니오.”라고 말하게 한다. 그리고 자제력을 가지고 올바르고 경건하게 이 세상을 살아가게 한다. 13그리고 위대하신 하나님과 구세주이신 예수 그리스도께서 영광스럽게 나타나실 그 복된 희망의 날을 기다리게 해 준다. 14그리스도께서는 우리를 위하여 당신의 몸을 내주셨다. 그것은, 우리를 모든 악에서 구해 내고 깨끗하게 하셔서, 선한 일에 열심을 내는 당신의 백성으로 삼으시려는 것이다. 15이런 것들이 그대가 가르쳐야 할 것들이다. 그대는 큰 권위를 가지고 충고하고 꾸짖어라. 아무도 그대를 업신여기지 못하게 하여라. |
