The Temptation of Jesus (Mk. 1:12-13; Lk. 4:1-13)1Then the Spirit* led Jesus into the desert. He was taken there to be tempted by the devil. 2Jesus ate nothing for 40 days and nights. After this, he was very hungry. 3The devil* came to tempt him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these rocks to become bread.” 4Jesus answered him, “The Scriptures* say,
‘It is not just bread that keeps people alive. Their lives depend on what God says.’”* 5Then the devil led Jesus to the holy* city of Jerusalem and put him on a high place at the edge of the Temple* area. 6He said to Jesus, “If you are the Son of God, jump off, because the Scriptures say,
‘God will command his angels to help you, and their hands will catch you,
so that you will not hit your foot on a rock.’”* 7Jesus answered, “The Scriptures also say,
‘You must not test the Lord your God.’”* 8Then the devil led Jesus to the top of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and all the wonderful things in them. 9The devil said, “If you will bow down and worship me, I will give you all these things.” 10Jesus said to him, “Get away from me, Satan*! The Scriptures say,
‘You must worship the Lord your God. Serve only him!’”* 11So the devil left him. Then some angels came to Jesus and helped him.
Jesus Begins His Work in Galilee (Mk. 1:14-15; Lk. 4:14-15) 12Jesus heard that John was put in prison, so he went back to Galilee. 13But he did not stay in Nazareth. He went to live in Capernaum, a town near Lake Galilee in the area near Zebulun and Naphtali. 14He did this to give full meaning to what the prophet* Isaiah said: 15“Listen, land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, lands by the road that goes to the sea, the area past the Jordan River - Galilee, where those from other nations live. 16The people who live in spiritual darkness have seen a great light.
The light has shined for those who live in the land that is as dark as a grave.”* 17From that time Jesus began to tell people his message: “Change your hearts and lives, because God’s kingdom* is now very near*.”
Jesus Chooses Some Followers (Mk. 1:16-20; Lk. 5:1-11) 18As Jesus was walking by Lake Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Simon’s brother Andrew. These brothers were fishermen, and they were fishing in the lake with a net. 19Jesus said to them, “Come, follow me, and I will make you a different kind of fishermen. You will bring in people, not fish.” 20Simon and Andrew immediately left their nets and followed him. 21Jesus continued walking by Lake Galilee. He saw two other brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee. They were preparing their nets to catch fish. Jesus told the brothers to come with him. 22So they immediately left the boat and their father, and they followed Jesus.
Jesus Teaches and Heals the People (Lk. 6:17-19) 23Jesus went everywhere in the country of Galilee. He taught in the synagogues* and told the Good News about God’s kingdom*. And he healed all the people’s diseases and sicknesses. 24The news about Jesus spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all those who were sick. They were suffering from different kinds of diseases and pain. Some had demons* inside them, some suffered from seizures, and some were paralyzed. Jesus healed them all. 25Large crowds followed him - people from Galilee, the Ten Towns*, Jerusalem, Judea, and the area across the Jordan River. |

예수께서 시험 받으시다 (막 1:12-13; 눅 4:1-13) 1그 뒤 예수께서는 성령*에게 이끌려 광야로 나가서, 악마의 시험을 받게 되셨다. 2예수께서는 밤낮 40일 동안 금식*하여 배가 고프셨다. 3그러자 악마*가 예수께 와서 말하였다. “네가 하나님의 아들이라면, 이 돌들에게 빵이 되라고 명령해 보아라.” 4예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. “성경에 이렇게 쓰여 있다.
‘사람은 빵으로만 사는 것이 아니라, 하나님의 입에서 나오는 모든 말씀으로 사는 것이다.’“신 8:3 5그러자 악마는 예수를 거룩한 성(예루살렘)으로 데리고 갔다. 악마는 성전 꼭대기에 예수를 세우고 6말하였다. “네가 하나님의 아들이라면, 뛰어내려 보아라. 성경에 이렇게도 쓰여 있다.
‘하나님이 천사를 시켜 너를 돌보시리라. 천사들이 손으로 너를 떠받쳐 주리니 네 발이 돌에 부딪히지 않으리라.’“시 91:11-12 7이에 예수께서 이렇게 대답하셨다. “그러나 성경에는 또 이런 말씀도 있다.
‘주 너의 하나님을 시험하지 말아라.’“신 6:16 8그러자 악마는 예수를 아주 높은 산으로 데리고 갔다. 악마는 예수께 세상 모든 나라와 그 영화를 보여 주며 말하였다. 9”네가 내게 엎드려 절하고 나를 받들어 섬기면, 내가 이 모든 것을 네게 주겠다.” 10그러자 예수께서 악마에게 말씀하셨다. “사탄아, 물러가라! 성경은 이렇게 말씀하고 있다.
‘주 네 하나님을 받들고, 그분만을 섬겨라.’“신 6:13 11그러자 악마는 예수께로부터 떠나가고, 천사들이 와서 예수를 모셨다.
갈릴리에서 복음 선포를 시작하시다 (막 1:14-15; 눅 4:14-15) 12요한이 붙잡혀 갔다는 소식을 듣고, 예수께서는 다시 갈릴리로 돌아가셨다. 13그러나 예수께서는 나사렛에 머물지 않으시고 가버나움으로 가서 사셨다. 가버나움은 갈릴리 호숫가에 있는 마을로, 스불론과 납달리 지방에 있었다. 14이렇게 해서 하나님께서 예언자 이사야를 통하여 말씀하신 것이 이루어지게 되었다. 15”스불론과 납달리 땅, 요단 강 건너편 바다로 가는 길목, 이방 사람*의 갈릴리! 16어둠 속에 앉은 백성이 큰 빛을 보았고, 죽음의 그림자가 드리운 땅에 사는 사람들에게 빛이 비치었다.”사 9:1-2 17그때부터 예수께서는 “회개하라. 하늘나라가 가까이 왔다.” 하고 선포하기 시작하셨다.
몇 사람을 제자로 삼으시다 (막 1:16-20; 눅 5:1-11) 18예수께서 갈릴리 호숫가를 걸어가시다가 베드로라고 하는 시몬과 그의 형제 안드레가 그물을 던지고 있는 것을 보셨다. 그들은 고기 잡는 어부였다. 19예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “나를 따라 오너라. 내가 너희를 사람 낚는 어부로 만들어 주겠다.” 20그들은 곧바로 그물을 버리고 예수를 따라갔다. 21예수께서는 거기에서 조금 더 가시다가 다른 두 형제를 보셨다. 그들은 세베대의 아들들인 야고보와 그의 형제 요한이었다. 그들은 아버지 세베대와 함께 배에서 그물을 고치고 있었다. 예수께서 그들도 부르셨다. 22그러자 두 형제는 곧바로 배와 아버지를 버려두고 예수를 따라갔다.
기쁜 소식을 전하고 질병을 고치시다 (눅 6:17-19) 23예수께서는 온 갈릴리 지역을 다니시며 그곳의 여러 회당*에서 가르치시고, 하늘나라에 관한 기쁜 소식*을 알리셨다. 또한 사람들의 모든 질병과 아픔을 고쳐 주셨다. 24예수에 관한 소문이 온 시리아 땅에 퍼지게 되었다. 그러자 사람들은 온갖 병에 걸려 고통에 시달리는 사람들을 데리고 예수를 찾아왔다. 그 가운데는 귀신 들린 사람도 있었고, 간질병 환자도 있었고, 몸이 마비된 사람들도 있었다. 예수께서는 그들을 낫게 해 주셨다. 25그러자 갈릴리와 데가볼리와 예루살렘과 유대와 요단 강 건너편에서 온 많은 사람들이 예수를 따랐다. |
