| The Bowls Filled With God’s Anger1Then I heard a loud voice from the temple. It said to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the seven bowls of God’s anger on the earth.” 2The first angel left. He poured out his bowl on the land. Then all those who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped its idol* got sores that were ugly and painful. 3The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea. Then the sea became blood like a dead man’s blood. And everything living in the sea died. 4The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and the springs of water. The rivers and the springs of water became blood. 5Then I heard the angel of the waters say to God,
“You are the one who is and who always was.
You are the Holy One.
You are right in these judgments you have made. 6The people have spilled the blood of your holy people* and your prophets*.
Now you have given those people blood to drink. This is what they deserve.” 7And I heard the altar* say,
“Yes, Lord God All-Powerful, your judgments are true and right.” 8The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun. The sun was given power to burn the people with fire. 9The people were burned by the great heat. They cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues. But they refused to change their hearts and lives and give glory* to God. 10The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast. And darkness covered the beast’s kingdom. People bit their tongues because of the pain. 11They cursed the God of heaven because of their pain and the sores they had. But they refused to change their hearts and turn away from the evil things they did. 12The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates. The water in the river was dried up. This prepared the way for the rulers from the east to come. 13Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs. They came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet*. 14These evil spirits are the spirits of demons*. They have power to do miracles*. They go out to the rulers of the whole world to gather them for battle on the great day of God All-Powerful. 15“Listen! I will come at a time you don’t expect, like a thief. Great blessings belong to those who stay awake and keep their clothes with them. They will not have to go without clothes and be ashamed for people to see them.” 16Then the evil spirits gathered the rulers together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. 17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air. Then a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne. It said, “It is finished!” 18Then there were flashes of lightning, noises, thunder, and a big earthquake. This was the worst earthquake that has ever happened since people have been on earth. 19The great city split into three parts. The cities of the nations were destroyed. And God did not forget to punish Babylon the Great. He gave that city the cup filled with the wine of his terrible anger. 20Every island disappeared and there were no more mountains. 21Giant hailstones fell on the people from the sky. These hailstones weighed almost 100 pounds* each. People cursed God because of this plague of the hail. It was terrible. |

| 하나님의 진노가 가득 담긴 그릇 1그때에 나는 성전에서 들려오는 큰 목소리를 들었습니다. 그 목소리는 일곱 천사에게, “가서 일곱 대접에 들어 있는 하나님의 진노를 땅에 쏟아 부어라.”라고 말하였습니다. 2첫째 천사가 가서 자기의 대접에 있는 것을 땅에 쏟아 부었습니다. 그러자 짐승의 표를 받은 자들과 짐승의 상을 섬기던 자들 모두에게 끔찍하고 괴로운 종기가 생겼습니다. 3둘째 천사가 자기의 대접에 있는 것을 바다에 쏟아 부었습니다. 그러자 바다가 죽은 사람의 피처럼 되었습니다. 그리고 바다에 사는 모든 것이 죽었습니다. 4셋째 천사가 자기의 대접에 있는 것을 강과 샘에 쏟아 부었습니다. 강과 샘이 피로 변하였습니다. 5그때에 나는 물을 다스리는 천사가 하나님께 말하는 소리를 들었습니다.
“지금도 계시고 전에도 계시던 거룩한 분이시여,
이렇게 심판을 하시니, 당신은 의로우십니다. 6그들이 당신의 성도들과 예언자*들의 피를 흘렸으므로,
당신께서 그들에게 피를 주어 마시게 하셨습니다.
그들은 그런 심판을 받아 마땅합니다.” 7또 나는 제단*이 이렇게 응답하는 것을 들었습니다.
“그렇습니다! 전능하신 주 하나님,
당신의 판결은 참되고 올바르십니다.” 8넷째 천사가 자기의 대접에 있는 것을 해에 쏟아 부었습니다. 해는 사람들을 불로 태울 수 있는 권능을 받았습니다. 9사람들은 뜨거운 열기에 바싹 타 들어갔고, 이러한 재난을 다스리는 권세를 가지신 하나님의 이름을 저주하였습니다. 그들은 회개하고 하나님께 영광을 돌리기를 거부하였습니다. 10다섯째 천사가 자기의 대접에 있는 것을 짐승의 보좌에 쏟아 부었습니다. 그러자 짐승의 왕국이 어둠에 빠졌습니다. 사람들은 괴로워서 혀를 깨물었습니다. 11그리고 자기들이 받는 고통과 종기 때문에 하늘의 하나님을 저주하였습니다. 그러나 자기들이 한 짓을 회개하려고는 하지 않았습니다. 12여섯째 천사가 자기의 대접에 있는 것을 큰 강 유프라테스에 쏟아 부었습니다. 그러자 그 강물이 말라 버려서, 동쪽에서 오는 왕들의 길이 마련되었습니다. 13그때에 나는 개구리같이 생긴 더러운 영 셋을 보았습니다. 그 영들은 용의 입과 짐승의 입과 거짓 예언자*의 입에서 나왔습니다. 14그들은 기적*을 행하는 귀신의 영입니다. 그들은 온 세상의 왕들에게로 갑니다. 전능하신 하나님의 큰 날이 올 때, 하나님과 맞서 싸우려고 왕들을 모으려는 것입니다. 15”보아라, 내가 도둑처럼 예기치 않은 때에 올 것이다! 벌거벗고 다니다가 부끄러운 꼴을 보이지 않으려고, 깨어 있으면서 자기 옷을 갖추어 입고 있는 사람은 복이 있다.” 16그때에 세 악령이 히브리 말로 아마겟돈이라고 하는 곳에 왕들을 모았습니다. 17일곱째 천사가 자기의 대접에 들어 있는 것을 공중에 쏟아 부었습니다. 그러자 성전에 있는 보좌로부터 큰 목소리가 들려왔습니다. “끝났다!” 18그러자 번갯불이 번쩍이고 우르릉거리는 소리가 들리고 천둥소리가 났습니다. 그리고 큰 지진이 일어났습니다. 사람이 땅에서 살기 시작한 뒤로 이보다 더 큰 지진이 일어난 적이 없었습니다. 19그 큰 도성이 세 조각이 났습니다. 뭇 민족의 도시들이 무너졌습니다. 하나님께서는 그 큰 도성 바빌론을 벌하실 것을 잊지 않고 계시다가, 당신의 무서운 진노가 가득 담긴 잔을 바빌론에 내리셨습니다. 20모든 섬이 달아나고, 산을 찾아볼 수 없게 되었습니다. 21하늘로부터 엄청나게 큰 우박들이 사람들 위로 떨어졌습니다. 우박 하나의 무게가 일 달란트*나 되었습니다. 사람들은 우박의 재앙 때문에 하나님을 저주하였습니다. 그 재앙이 너무나 끔찍했기 때문입니다. |
