Jesus Is Seen With Moses and Elijah (Mk. 9:2-13; Lk. 9:28-36)1Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John the brother of James and went up on a high mountain. They were all alone there. 2While these followers watched him, Jesus was changed. His face became bright like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 3Then two men were there, talking with him. They were Moses* and Elijah*. 4Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you want, I will put three tents here - one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5While Peter was talking, a bright cloud came over them. A voice came from the cloud and said, “This is my Son, the one I love. I am very pleased with him. Obey him!” 6The followers with Jesus heard this voice. They were very afraid, so they fell to the ground. 7But Jesus came to them and touched them. He said, “Stand up. Don’t be afraid.” 8The followers looked up, and they saw that Jesus was now alone. 9As Jesus and the followers were coming down the mountain, he gave them this command: “Don’t tell anyone about what you saw on the mountain. Wait until the Son of Man* has been raised from death. Then you can tell people about what you saw.” 10The followers asked Jesus, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come* before the Messiah* comes?” 11Jesus answered, “They are right to say Elijah is coming. And it is true that Elijah will make all things the way they should be. 12But I tell you, Elijah has already come. People did not know who he was, and they treated him badly, doing whatever they wanted to do. It is the same with the Son of Man. Those same people will make the Son of Man suffer.” 13Then the followers understood that when Jesus said Elijah, he was really talking about John the Baptizer*.
Jesus Frees a Boy From an Evil Spirit (Mk. 9:14-29; Lk. 9:37-43a) 14Jesus and the followers went back to the people. A man came to Jesus and bowed before him. 15The man said, “Lord, be kind to my son. He suffers so much from the seizures he has. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16I brought him to your followers, but they could not heal him.” 17Jesus answered, “You people today have no faith. Your lives are so wrong! How long must I stay with you? How long must I continue to be patient with you? Bring the boy here.” 18Jesus gave a strong command to the demon* inside the boy. The demon* came out of the boy, and the boy was healed. 19Then the followers came to Jesus alone. They said, “We tried to force the demon out of the boy, but we could not. Why were we not able to make the demon go out?” 20Jesus answered, “You were not able to make the demon go out, because your faith is too small. Believe me when I tell you, if your faith is only as big as a mustard* seed you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. You will be able to do anything.” 21*
Jesus Talks About His Death (Mk. 9:30-32; Lk. 9:43b-45) 22Later, the followers met together in Galilee. Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man* will be handed over to the control of other men, 23who will kill him. But on the third day he will be raised from death.” The followers were very sad to hear that Jesus would be killed.
Jesus Teaches About Paying Taxes 24Jesus and his followers went to Capernaum*. There the men who collect the two-drachma Temple* tax came to Peter and asked, “Does your teacher pay the Temple tax?” 25Peter answered, “Yes, he does.”
Peter went into the house where Jesus was. Before Peter could speak, Jesus said to him, “The kings on the earth get different kinds of taxes from people. But who are those who pay the taxes? Are they the king’s children? Or do other people pay the taxes? What do you think?” 26Peter answered, “The other people pay the taxes.”
Jesus said, “Then the children of the king don’t have to pay taxes. 27But we don’t want to upset these tax collectors*. So do this: Go to the lake and fish. After you catch the first fish, open its mouth. Inside its mouth you will find a four-drachma coin. Take that coin and give it to the tax collectors*. That will pay the tax for you and me.” |

모세와 엘리야와 함께 계신 예수 (막 9:2-13; 눅 9:28-36) 1엿새 뒤에 예수께서는 베드로와 야고보와 야고보의 형제 요한을 데리고, 따로 높은 산으로 올라가셨다. 2예수께서는 그들이 보는 앞에서 모습이 바뀌셨다. 예수의 얼굴은 해처럼 빛났고 옷은 빛처럼 희게 변하였다. 3갑자기 모세와 엘리야*가 그들 앞에 나타나서 예수와 이야기를 나누었다. 4베드로가 예수께 말하였다. “주여, 여기 이렇게 있는 것이 참 좋습니다! 주께서 원하시면 여기에 초막* 세 개를 짓겠습니다. 하나는 주님을 위해, 하나는 모세를 위해, 또 하나는 엘리야를 위해 짓겠습니다.” 5베드로의 말이 채 끝나기도 전에 밝게 빛나는 구름이 그들을 덮었다. 그리고 “이는 내가 사랑하는 아들, 내 마음을 기쁘게 하는 아들이니, 너희는 그가 하는 말을 잘 들어라!” 하는 음성이 구름 속에서 들려왔다. 6예수의 제자들이 이 소리를 듣고 겁에 질려 땅에 엎드렸다. 7예수께서 가까이 오셔서 그들에게 손을 얹으시며 말씀하셨다. “일어나라. 무서워하지 말아라!” 8제자들이 고개를 들어 보니 예수 밖에는 아무도 없었다. 9예수께서 제자들과 함께 산에서 내려오며 그들에게 이르셨다. “너희는 사람의 아들*이 죽었다가 다시 살아날 때까지는 지금 본 것을 아무에게도 말하지 말아라.” 10제자들이 예수께 여쭈었다. “어찌하여 율법 선생들은 엘리야가 그리스도보다 먼저 와야 한다고 말합니까?” 11예수께서 말씀하셨다. “엘리야가 먼저 와서 모든 것을 바로잡으리라는 말은 맞다. 12내가 분명히 말하지만, 엘리야는 벌써 왔다. 다만 사람들이 그를 알아보지 못하고 함부로 대했을 뿐이다. 사람의 아들*도 그와 같은 어려움을 겪을 것이다.” 13이 말을 듣고서야 제자들은 예수께서 말씀하신 엘리야가 세례자 요한*이라는 것을 깨달았다.
예수께서 한 소년의 병을 낫게 하시다 (막 9:14-29; 눅 9:37-43) 14예수께서 다시 사람들이 모여 있는 곳으로 돌아오시자, 한 사람이 예수 앞으로 와서 무릎을 꿇었다. 15그리고는 말하였다. “주여, 내 아들을 불쌍히 여겨 주십시오! 아이가 간질병*에 걸려 심하게 고통을 받고 있습니다. 그래서 불 속이나 물 속에 곧잘 뛰어들곤 합니다. 16내 아이를 선생님의 제자들에게 데려왔지만, 그들은 아이의 병을 고치지 못했습니다.” 17예수께서 말씀하셨다. “믿음이 없고 타락한 사람들아! 내가 얼마나 더 너희와 함께 있어야 하느냐? 얼마나 더 너희를 참고 견뎌야 하겠느냐? 그 아이를 내게 데려오너라.” 18예수께서 아이에게 들어 있는 악령을 꾸짖으시자, 악령이 아이에게서 나갔다. 그 순간 아이의 병이 나았다. 19예수의 제자들이 따로 예수께 와서 여쭈었다. “어찌하여 저희는 악령을 내쫓지 못하였습니까?” 20예수께서 말씀하셨다. “너희의 믿음이 부족하기 때문이다. 내가 너희에게 분명히 말한다. 너희에게 겨자씨* 한 알만한 믿음만 있어도, 이 산더러 ‘저리로 옮겨가라.’ 하면 그대로 될 것이다. 또한 너희가 하지 못할 일이 하나도 없을 것이다.” 21*
자신이 죽으실 것에 관해 말씀하시다 (막 9:30-32; 눅 9:43-45) 22예수의 제자들이 갈릴리에 모여 있을 때 예수께서 말씀하셨다. “사람의 아들*이 사람들에게 넘겨질 것이다. 23그들은 사람의 아들을 죽일 것이다. 그러나 사람의 아들은 사흘 만에 다시 살아날 것이다.” 제자들은 그 말을 듣고 몹시 슬퍼하였다.
세금 내는 것에 대해 가르치시다 24예수와 제자들이 가버나움에 이르렀을 때였다. 성전세를 거두는 사람들이 베드로에게 와서 물었다. “당신의 선생은 성전세를 냅니까?” 25”예, 내십니다.” 베드로가 이렇게 대답하고 예수께서 계신 집으로 들어갔다.
그런데 예수께서는 베드로가 말을 꺼내기도 전에 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “시몬*아, 너는 어떻게 생각하느냐? 세상 임금들이 관세와 주민세를 거두어들일 때, 그들이 누구에게 세금을 물리느냐? 자기 자녀에게냐, 아니면 다른 사람들에게냐?” 26베드로가 대답하였다. “다른 사람들에게 물립니다.”
그러자 예수께서 베드로에게 말씀하셨다. “그렇다면 자녀들은 세금을 내지 않아도 되지 않겠느냐? 27그러나 우리는 그들의 비위를 건드리지 않는 것이 좋다. 바다로 가서 낚시를 던져, 맨 처음 잡은 물고기의 입을 벌려 보아라. 거기에 은돈 한 닢*이 있을 터이니, 그것을 가져다가 나와 네 몫의 성전세로 주어라.” |
