Jesus Heals a Crippled Man (Mk. 2:1-12; Lk. 5:17-26)1Jesus got into a boat and went back across the lake to his own town. 2Some people brought to him a man who was paralyzed and was lying on a mat. Jesus saw that these people had much faith. So he said to the paralyzed man, “Young man, you will be glad to hear this. Your sins are forgiven.” 3Some of the teachers of the law heard what Jesus said. They said to themselves, “What an insult to God for this man to say that!” 4Jesus knew what they were thinking. So he said, “Why are you thinking such evil thoughts? 5-6The Son of Man* has power on earth to forgive sins. But how can I prove this to you? Maybe you are thinking it was easy for me to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ There’s no proof that it really happened. But what if I say to the man, ‘Stand up and walk’? Then you will be able to see that I really have this power.” So Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Stand up. Take your mat and go home.” 7The man stood up and went home. 8The people saw this and they were amazed. They praised God for letting someone have such power.
Matthew (Levi) Follows Jesus (Mk. 2:13-17; Lk. 5:27-32) 9When Jesus was leaving, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the place for collecting taxes. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.” So he got up and followed Jesus. 10Jesus ate dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors* and others with bad reputations came and ate with him and his followers. 11The Pharisees* saw that Jesus was eating with these people. They asked his followers, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and other sinners?” 12Jesus heard them say this. So he said to them, “It is the sick people who need a doctor, not those who are healthy. 13You need to go and learn what this Scripture means: ‘I don’t want animal sacrifices; I want you to show kindness to people.’* I did not come to invite good people. I came to invite sinners.”
Jesus Is Not Like Other Religious Leaders (Mk. 2:18-22; Lk. 5:33-39) 14Then the followers of John* came to Jesus and said, “We and the Pharisees* fast* often, but your followers don’t ever fast*. Why?” 15Jesus answered, “At a wedding the friends of the bridegroom* are not sad while he is with them. They cannot fast then. But the time will come when the bridegroom* will be taken from them. Then they will fast. 16“When someone sews a patch over a hole in an old coat, they never use a piece of cloth that has not already been shrunk. If they do, the patch will shrink and pull away from the coat. Then the hole will be worse. 17Also, people never pour new wine into old wineskins*. They would break, the wine would spill out, and the wineskins would be ruined. People always put new wine into new wineskins, which won’t break, and the wine stays good.”
Jesus Gives Life to a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman (Mk. 5:21-43; Lk. 8:40-56) 18While Jesus was still talking, a leader of the synagogue* came to him. The leader bowed down before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But if you will come and touch her with your hand, she will live again.” 19So Jesus and his followers went with the man. 20On the way, there was a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years. She came close behind Jesus and touched the bottom of his coat. 21She was thinking, “If I can touch his coat, I will be healed.” 22Jesus turned and saw the woman. He said, “Be happy, dear woman. You are made well because you believed.” Then the woman was healed. 23Jesus continued going with the Jewish leader and went into the leader’s house. He saw people there who make music for funerals. And he saw a crowd of people crying loudly. 24Jesus said, “Go away. The girl is not dead. She is only sleeping.” But the people laughed at him. 25After the people were put out of the house, Jesus went into the girl’s room. He held the girl’s hand, and the girl stood up. 26The news about this spread all around the area.
Jesus Heals More People 27As Jesus was going away from there, two blind men followed him. They said loudly, “Show kindness to us, Son of David*.” 28Jesus went inside, and the blind men went with him. He asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to make you see again?” They answered, “Yes, Lord, we believe.” 29Then Jesus touched their eyes and said, “You believe that I can make you see again, so it will happen.” 30Then the men were able to see. Jesus gave them a strong warning. He said, “Don’t tell anyone about this.” 31But they left and spread the news about Jesus all around that area. 32As these two men were leaving, some people brought another man to Jesus. This man could not talk because he had a demon* inside him. 33Jesus forced the demon out, and the man was able to talk. The people were amazed and said, “We have never seen anything like this in Israel*.” 34But the Pharisees* said, “The ruler of demons is the one that gives him power to force demons out.”
Jesus Feels Sorry for the People 35Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages. He taught in their synagogues* and told people the Good News about God’s kingdom*. He healed all kinds of diseases and sicknesses. 36Jesus saw the many people and felt sorry for them because they were worried and helpless - like sheep without a shepherd to lead them. 37Jesus said to his followers, “There is such a big harvest of people to bring in. But there are only a few workers to help harvest them. 38God owns the harvest. Ask him to send more workers to help gather his harvest.” |

중풍병 환자를 고쳐 주시다 (막 2:1-12; 눅 5:17-26) 1예수께서는 배를 타고 살고 계시던 자기 마을로 다시 돌아오셨다. 2사람들이 한 중풍병자를 들것에 누인 채 예수께 데리고 왔다. 예수께서는 그 사람들의 믿음을 보시고, 중풍병자에게 말씀하셨다. “기운을 내어라, 아들아. 네 죄가 용서함을 받았다.” 3그때 율법 선생 몇이 예수의 말씀을 듣고 자기들끼리 수군거렸다. “이 사람은 하나님을 모독하는 말을 하고 있다!” 4예수께서는 율법 선생들의 생각을 아시고 말씀하셨다. “어찌하여 너희는 악한 생각을 품느냐? 5’네 죄가 용서되었다’는 말과, ‘일어나서 걸어라’는 말 가운데, 어느 것이 더 하기 쉬우냐? 6사람의 아들*에게는 땅에서 죄를 용서할 권세가 있다는 것을 너희에게 보여 주겠다.” 그러고 나서 예수께서는 중풍병자에게 말씀하셨다. “일어나서 네 침대를 거두어 가지고 집으로 가거라.” 7그러자 그는 일어나서 집으로 갔다. 8이것을 본 사람들이 놀라워하였다. 그들은 사람에게 그런 능력을 주신 하나님을 찬양하였다.
마태(레위)를 부르시다 (막 2:13-17; 눅 5:27-32) 9예수께서 그곳을 떠나 길을 가시다가, 마태라는 사람이 세관*에 앉아 있는 것을 보셨다. 예수께서 마태에게 “나를 따라오너라.” 하고 말씀하셨다. 그러자 그는 일어나서 예수를 따랐다. 10예수께서 마태의 집에서 음식을 잡수실 때에, 많은 세무원*들과 죄인*들이 와서 예수와 예수의 제자들과 함께 음식을 먹게 되었다. 11바리새파* 사람들이 이것을 보고 제자들에게 “어찌하여 당신네 선생님은 세무원들과 죄인들과 함께 어울려 음식을 드십니까?” 하고 물었다. 12예수께서 이 말을 들으시고 말씀하셨다. “건강한 사람에게는 의사가 필요하지 않다. 의사가 필요한 사람은 병든 사람이다. 13그러니 가서 성경에 나오는 ‘내가 바라는 것은 희생 제물이 아니라 자비이다’* 라는 말씀이 무슨 뜻인지 생각해 보아라. 나는 의로운 사람들을 부르러 온 것이 아니라 죄인들을 부르러 왔다.”
여느 종교 지도자들과 다르신 예수 (막 2:18-22; 눅 5:33-39) 14그때 세례자 요한의 제자들이 예수께 와서 물었다. “저희나 바리새파 사람들은 자주 금식하는데, 왜 선생님의 제자들은 금식하지 않습니까?” 15예수께서 대답하셨다. “혼인 잔치에서 손님들이 신랑과 함께 있는 동안에 슬퍼할 수 있느냐? 그러나 신랑을 빼앗길 날이 올 것이니, 그때에는 그들도 슬퍼하며 금식할 것이다. 16낡은 옷에 새 천 조각을 대어 깁는 사람은 없다. 새로 댄 천 조각이 옷을 잡아당겨서, 옷이 더 많이 찢어질 것이기 때문이다. 17새 포도주를 낡은 가죽 부대에 붓는 사람도 없다. 그렇게 하면 가죽 부대가 터져서, 포도주가 새고 가죽 부대도 못쓰게 될 것이다. 새 포도주는 새 가죽 부대에 담아야 둘 다 쓸 수 있다.”
죽은 소녀를 살리고, 병든 여인을 고치시다 (막 5:21-43; 눅 8:40-56) 18예수께서 이 말씀을 하고 계실 때 어떤 회당장*이 예수께 왔다. 그는 예수 앞에 무릎을 꿇고 말하였다. “제 딸이 방금 죽었습니다. 그러나 오셔서 그 아이에게 손을 얹어 주시면, 아이가 다시 살아날 것입니다.” 19예수께서 일어나 제자들과 함께 그 사람을 따라가셨다. 20마침 그때 열두 해 동안 심하게 피를 흘리는 병을 앓고 있던 여자가, 예수의 뒤로 다가가 옷자락에 손을 대었다. 21그 여자는 ‘이분의 옷에 손만 대도 내 병이 나을 것이다.’라고 생각했던 것이다. 22예수께서 돌아서서 그 여자를 보시고 말씀하셨다. “딸아, 기운을 내어라. 네 믿음이 네 병을 고쳤다.” 그 순간 여자의 병이 나았다. 23예수께서 회당장의 집에 이르셔서, 피리 부는 사람들과 떠드는 사람들을 보시고 말씀하셨다. 24”물러가라! 이 딸아이는 죽은 것이 아니라 자고 있다!” 그러자 사람들은 예수를 비웃기 시작하였다. 25예수께서는 사람들을 집 밖으로 내보내신 뒤 소녀의 방으로 들어가셨다. 예수께서 소녀의 손을 잡으시자 소녀가 일어났다. 26이 소문이 곳곳으로 널리 퍼졌다.
더 많은 사람의 병을 고쳐 주시다 27예수께서 그곳을 떠나 길을 가시는데, 눈먼 사람 둘이 예수를 따라왔다. 그들은 계속 “다윗의 자손*이여, 우리를 불쌍히 여겨 주십시오!” 하고 외쳤다. 28예수께서 집 안으로 들어가시자 눈먼 두 사람이 따라 들어왔다. 예수께서 그들에게 물으셨다. “내가 너희의 눈을 밝게 해 줄 수 있다고 믿느냐?” 그러자 두 사람은 “네, 주님! 믿습니다!” 하고 대답하였다. 29예수께서 그들의 눈을 만지며 말씀하셨다. “너희 믿음대로 되어라!” 30그러자 두 사람은 볼 수 있게 되었다. 예수께서는 그들에게 엄히 이르셨다. “결코 다른 사람들에게는 이 일을 알리지 말아라.” 31그러나 두 사람은 나가서, 예수의 소문을 온 지역에 퍼뜨렸다. 32두 사람이 떠난 뒤에, 사람들이 귀신 들려 말을 못 하는 사람을 예수께 데리고 왔다. 33예수께서 귀신을 쫓아내자, 그 사람이 다시 말을 하게 되었다. 사람들은 이것을 보고 놀라 웅성거렸다. “이스라엘에서 여태까지 이런 일을 결코 본 적이 없다.” 34그러나 바리새파 사람들은 “저 사람은 귀신 두목의 힘을 빌려서 귀신을 내쫓는다.”라고 하였다.
사람들을 불쌍히 여기시다 35예수께서 모든 성읍과 마을을 돌아다니며 회당*에서 가르치셨다. 또 하늘나라에 관한 기쁜 소식*을 선포하시고, 사람들의 온갖 질병과 아픔을 고쳐 주셨다. 36예수께서 모여든 사람들을 보시고 그들을 불쌍히 여기셨다. 그들이 목자 없는 양처럼 삶에 시달려 지쳐 있었기 때문이다. 37그래서 제자들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “추수할 것은 많으나 일할 사람이 적다. 38그러니 추수하는 주인이신 주께 당신의 추수 밭으로 일꾼들을 더 보내 달라고 기도하여라.” |
